Pycior + Co Receives 2009 Governor’s Community Project of the Year Award
LEE'S SUMMIT, MO (July 15, 2009) – Pycior + Co is pleased to be the honored recipient of the 2009 Governor's Community Project of the Year Award given by the Missouri Department of Economic Development. A collection of commercial companies based in Lee's Summit, Pycior + Co is being recognized for the Revitalization of the Hartley's Block in Downtown Lee's Summit.
The Community Project of the Year Award recognizes planning and execution of successful development of specific properties, activities that caused the elimination of specific community disadvantages and examples of unique, collaborative efforts toward community development. To be considered, the project must show a significant impact on the community and its citizens.
"We are so honored that our work on the Hartley's Block is being recognized with such a prestigious award at the state level," says Kurt Pycior, president of Pycior + Co. "I’ve always said the Hartley's Block Revitalization was a labor of love, and it was. It is very rewarding to see the fruits of our labor — and be recognized by our peers in real estate and development. I’d like to thank the Lee's Summit Economic Development Council, The City of Lee's Summit — particularly Mayor Karen Messerli, City Council and City Staff, Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street, the Hartley family and of course, the Pycior + Co. team that made this project such a success."
The Hartley's Block is a mixed-use development that occupies a quarter-block in historic downtown Lee's Summit that brings a pedestrian and urban flavor to the historic downtown core, enhancing both the living and working environment. This rehabilitation and new construction project adds vital retail, office and residential space to the vibrant downtown area. The Hartley's Block project is significant in demonstrating quality redevelopment in downtown Lee's Summit and Pycior’s vision was to set the stage for future projects of this style and character.
The award will presented September 9-11 at the annual Governor's Economic Development conference in St. Louis. In a letter from the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Director Linda Martinez says Pycior's selection is "an acknowledgement of the success you have had in attracting more business opportunities, creating more quality, high-paying jobs and improving the overall quality of life for your fellow Missourians."
